How QFB division works
Qld Food bank rescues and purchases edible surplus food and groceries from the country’s farmers, manufacturers, retailers & distribution centres. This includes product that is out of specification, close to date code, has incorrect labelling or damaged packaging as well as excess stock and deleted lines.
Without Qld Food Bank much of this food would simply go to landfill. We purchase, collect or organise transportation of the food to our bases for our food parcel programs, or free aid.
Supply doesn’t always meet demand for the usual foodbanks, as they rely on donations etc, as we are self funded and purchase our food supply can always be met with local community support. We have flipped the usual model into a new business concept of social responsibility.
QLD FOOD BANK - by assisting communities who can afford budget priced groceries, we use part of our profits to put back into our community fund which we use to purchase surplus and give out FREE to the community groups whom need that help who have no funds eg homeless etc.
Financial contributions from our fee-for-service programs/services provide essential funds to cover the elements that are required for our operations. We work within the laws and guidelines set out to keep our projects going by servies as we are self funded.
We are currently known as a Self Funded.
